According to the BBC, the Pakistani government has issued a statement saying the official cause of Ms Bhutto’s death was “a knock on the head” from ducking into her vehicle and not bullets or shrapnel.

What happened?
After a rally in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, Mrs. Bhutto got into her bulletproof vehicle and then popped her head through the roof to wave at the throngs of supporters. The Washington Post reports:

How did we get to the situation in Pakistan today?
